Who we are
Sauna & Plunge (https://saunaandplunge.com.au) is an independent directory of sauna, cold plunge and recovery studios across Australia, plus guides to home sauna and cold plunge equipment. References to "we", "us" or "our" in this policy mean Sauna & Plunge. You can reach us at hello@eleshapiper.com.au.
What information we collect
The site doesn't currently have user accounts, sign-up forms, comments or a newsletter, so we don't directly collect information you type in. If we add anything like that in future (for example, a form for a studio to update or claim its listing), we'll update this policy before it goes live and say clearly what's collected and why.
What we do collect is automatic analytics data via Google Analytics 4, including: pages visited, approximate location (derived from IP address, not exact), device and browser type, how you arrived at the site (referrer), and general usage patterns like time on page. This is aggregate, statistical information — we use it to understand which pages and cities are useful to visitors, not to identify individuals.
Cookies and similar technologies
Google Analytics sets cookies (small files stored in your browser) to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can block or delete these through your browser's settings at any time, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to stop Analytics collecting data on any site you visit. Blocking cookies won't affect your ability to use the directory — nothing on this site requires cookies to function.
How Google Analytics data is handled
Analytics data is collected and processed by Google in line with the Google Privacy Policy. Data retention is governed by the settings configured in our Google Analytics account. We don't sell, rent or otherwise share this data with third parties beyond what Google Analytics itself involves in providing the service.
Links to other sites
Every studio listing links out to that studio's own website, Instagram, Google Maps, or all three — that's by design, since we don't store details like hours or pricing that change often (see our disclaimer for more on that). Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don't control and this policy doesn't cover. Check their own privacy policy before sharing information with them.
Children's privacy
This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your rights and getting in touch
If you have questions about this policy, want to know what data we hold, or want something corrected or removed, email hello@eleshapiper.com.au. Because most of the data we hold is aggregate analytics data rather than information tied to an identifiable person, there may be limits to what we can look up or delete on an individual basis.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes — for example, if we add forms, accounts, or new analytics tools. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do. Significant changes will be reflected here; there's no separate notification list to sign up for.
